Ellen Dahl Lawson Gets Interviewed By CNN

Ellen Dahl Lawson, girl about town, local fashion blogger/photographer and the brain behind the Minneapoline, has done it again. Her work has already appeared in pages of Vita.mn, Lucky Magazine, various national fashion blogs and now CNN.

Ellen posted a link this morning on her Facebook page to a CNN interview that focuses on Twin Cities fashion and her own street style blog, the Minneapoline. Ellen also talks about vintage fashion, name drops Voltage as well as several local designers. That's our girl!

CNN calls the Twin Cities "hot for summer"

CNN just did an online feature extolling the virtues of the Twin Cities as a great place to visit in the summer. Read on for mentions of Jetset, First Avenue, the Fitzgerald Theater, the Guthrie Theater, and Aster Cafe. The article also mentions that Minneapolis was named No. 4 on National Geographic Traveler's 10 best summer destinations in the world.

Can it be summer now, please?

The Heavy Table gets some CNN love

Minneapolis' Heavy Table got some love from CNN today: the local food/drink magazine was featured in the "Blogger Spotlight" section of Eatocracy, CNN's newest food blog. Eatocracy, whose official launch was just a week ago, is described as a place for "smart, passionate conversation and information about food news, politics, culture." Every weekday, they're highlighting a local or regional blogger they think you ought to know about. Heavy Table is represented by the editor James Norton who says there's a "real food revolution here in the Upper Midwest, focused on a booming farmers market movement, world-caliber local cheese, a craft beer boom and a renewed interest in old-fashioned techniques like canning, pickling and foraging." Well said Norton!

And here's a bonus for all of you food lovers out there: Food Network Magazine says Pastrami & Egg at Be’wiched Deli is the best breakfast dish in Minnesota. Word.

CNN loves the Afternoon Delight

We told you these guys were great! Three high school friends from St. Cloud got some local attention recently with their hilarious rendition on Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind" that was all about their love for Minnesota. Imagine how surprised they were when CNN contacted them about it! Just this morning the guys shared a link to a CNN article on their Facebook page:
















The article entitled "The song that inspired a nation of remixes" talks about various remakes of the Jay Z hit single and how the song that basically became a New York anthem inspired people across America to write similar songs about their respective cities/states. Even more entertaining than the actual article are the reader comments, mostly submitted by angry New Yorkers who have a problem with.. well, anybody outside New York. Let the hatin' begin!
