Today MPR News posted a pretty funny clip featuring presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann invoking the name of John Wayne, a son of Iowa with whom she shares a spirit, she says. Only she says John Wayne is from Waterloo, Iowa - which is actually where the infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy was born. MPR points out that John Wayne, the actor, was born 167 miles away in Winterset, Iowa. Keep the gaffes coming, Michele.

Hastings 3000 on Drinking with Ian + Ian affects politics!
Tuesday night's episode of Drinking with Ian just so happened to feature one of our musical acts for tonight's LOL/OMG Social Media Meetup and Rock Show: Hastings 3000! Hastings even gives our show a sweet plug (forward to about the 23 minute mark to see Hastings rock)! The ep also features Chairman of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners and father of Target Field, Mike Opat.
In additional Drinking with Ian news, we were alerted to this ballot example on the Star Tribune site. The ballot, along with a number of others are being challenged by volunteers for republican candidate Tom Emmer that Hennepin County elections officials have deemed to be "frivolous." Note the write-ins towards the bottom!
We say screw the school board - Ian for President!

Emmer waits tables at Ol' Mexico
As you've all likely heard by now, Rightwingnut Tom Emmer's suggestion to freeze wages on service workers was met with complete outrage state-wide, so much so it even inspired a Facebook group entitled MN Service Industry Workers Against Tom Emmer for Governor which boasts over 1200 members. Well, Emmer tried to cover up his flub by creating a crappy YouTube video of himself waiting tables and prattling on about what he actually meant by the statements he made.
Emmer is having an OPEN meeting Wednesday the 14th from 3-4:30pm at Ol' Mexico Restaurante and Cantina in Roseville. Hopefully the cities' service workers show up in full force tofling pies voice their opinions, though considering the time frame, the majority of them will probably be -- you guessed it -- at work.
ps-Tip your servers! :)
UPDATE: Someone flagged the EmmerForGovernor YouTube channel as "inappropriate content" so you have to actually log in to YouTube to view it. Pretty funny prank, but the downside is now we can't imbed the video. Oh well, @danekryan sent us the original vid of him spouting off about tip credits and minimum wage and sucking up to a bunch of rich guys. Enjoy:
