MNSpeak and Switchblade Comb tweet the deetz surrounding the new First Ave makeover. Our beloved, iconic rock club is sparkling itself up for the impending Twins Stadium opener by debuting an in-house restaurant this May (it will even be open for lunch!). The new "Depot Tavern" restaurant will feature tasty bar fare like burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, french fries, cheese curds and more. Not to mention, the “The Diamond Dog”, a ¼ pound all beef hot dog, wrapped with pepper bacon and deep-fried on a pretzel bun.
Also, the VIP Room will henceforth be known as "The Record Room." Probably not the MOST creative name, but it definitely makes sense, seeing as the space is used primarily for DJ nights. The best part, however, is the fact that local artist Greg Gossel will be installing a huge mural in the room, turning it from a dingy cavern into total arty awesomeness! The revamp will be complete by April 4th and the new Record Room will celebrate by hosting the Passion Pit after party featuring DJ sets from Passion Pit, The Moon Goons, Famuel, Ricky Biggs and Upgrayde.

The VIP room was a record storage room.
ReplyDeleteI remember when they cleaned out the club storage space to make more room for VIP. They found the original disco ball from when it was Uncle Sams - and then THREW IT AWAY! Tragic :-(
ReplyDeleteAs long as Conrad is staying they can do whatever the hell they want.
ReplyDeleteI don't know... Is this VIP room was a record storage room?
