GAYNGS'/Roma di Luna's Channy Moon Casselle debuts new project

After rumblings of the new project from GAYNGS member and Roma di Luna darling Channy Moon Casselle hit Twitter back on August 12, we've been waiting to hear more. We now know the project's name, Polica, but otherwise, details are still sparse - all we know is that Channey was accompanied by producer Ryan Olson and Solid Gold's Zach Coulter in Austin, Texas, at Spoon drummer Jim Eno's studio earlier this month. Finally on Monday night, the first track, "Lay Your Cards Out," hit the net. The song features Channy's ethereal vocals, a smooth, chilled-out vibe, and accompaniment by Bon Iver's Mike Noyce. Listen at www.thisispolica, and follow @thisispolica and Policia's Facebook page for updates.

UPDATE: Gimme Noise has additional details about a project, including the band's debut performance this Sunday at Nick and Eddie.

Justin and Nate Vernon dig their Bushmills

Chris Rosenau of Volcano Choir just posted this (Photoshopped?) take on the Bushmills "Shared Among Friends" ad featuring Justin and Nate Vernon.

Apparently these guys dig their Bushmills.

UPDATE: We've just received confirmation that the ad is indeed for real.

Fancy Ray to announce "big news" in C.J. today

Yesterday, resident James Brown/Little Richard lookalike Fancy Ray put up a big tease on his Twitter:

Our minds are reeling. Could he be announcing he's signed to be the face of a different internet company? Could a new TV talk show with C.J. be in the works? Will Ray-Ban get him to rep a new line of Fancy Ray-Bans? There's no telling what the "Best Looking Man in Comedy" will do next.

C.J. and Fancy Ray go way back - here she is going on a trip with him to the Mall of America back in 2008:

Solace's Greatest Hits

Tuesday night, City Pages' music editor Andrea Swensson got bored, found a photo of Kyle Matteson (a.k.a. @solace) and made it into an album cover as a joke. Well, the joke caught on and turned into a local meme of sorts! A number of Twin Cities music nerds and friends began crafting album covers based on the popular Twitter user and music scene staple's facebook pix, and hilarity ensued. Make your own (of Kyle or your own friends). We think this could be a fun game!

Special TML at the Entry this Tuesday boasts "special surprise guest"

Saturday night dance party Too Much Love just announced a special Tuesday night edition happening in the neighboring 7th Street Entry next week, and it features some big name DJs: Devlin & Ghostdad's WIN WIN project, Ron Darko (the DJ for SR & Amanda Blank), Roofeeo (who'll be stopping by after drumming for TV on the Radio next door), and TML resident DJ Sovietpanda.

[TV on the Radio]

But something in the Facebook invite caught our attention: "You can expect a special surprise guest to make an appearance." Who could the mystery guest be? We're thinking it will have a little something to do with the big name band next door at the Mainroom...

Bon Iverson?

LOL. We caught wind of this last night via Twitter, and though the only post on BonIverson.com so far is the funny video below, we did find this little blurb via their facebook page that generally explains it: "Bon Iverson is a blog dedicated to publishing detailed analysis and opinions on sports and popular culture, run by four guys who like those kinds of things."

So there you have it.
