Eclipse Records Closes Doors

It's a sad day for local music lovers: the news just came via Twitter that Eclipse Record is closed for good.

Eclipse was not only an independent record store and concert venue, but a place to spend an afternoon just browsing through records, discussing classic albums with other music geeks . You know, like that movie "High Fidelity". It was a mecca for local musicians, wannabe musicians, groupies and all sorts of music types.

But Eclipse is no more and according to LOL/OMG sources, it is uncertain if the store is going to find a new home. We can also safely assume the store has struggled since it's reopening on University Ave four years ago...ever since... well, people stopped buying records and started downloading music. It's a sign of the times, I guess.

Thoughts?
