Local rapper Brother Ali posted a link on his Facebook page of Rhymesayers labelmate Atmosphere's recent interview on "Yo! MTV Raps," saying, "My big brother, my mentor and friend, Slug really nailed so many topics on this one." Listen to the interview to hear Slug dish on the current state of hip hop and the future of the genre.

Brother Ali gets a mention on Perez Hilton...kind of

Big name Hollywood gossip blogger, Perez Hilton posted a piece about Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel splitting up today and gave a strange mention to local hip hopper, Brother Ali. Ali had a funny encounter with Timberlake a couple days ago (which we posted about here) when the boy-bander jumped on stage only to be promptly kicked off by the rapper, who didn't immediately recognize him.

Perez says, "Jessica has been working hard in Africa, just finishing a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro that was originally supposed to be completed alongside her now ex-boyfriend Timberpuss. Justin, however, has been off partying in Jackson Hole, Wyoming — even performing and beatboxing at The Brother Ali Show"

We giggled a bit at the the fact Perez used italics when writing "The Brother Ali Show" as though it was a TV show or play. We do, however, really do think Ali SHOULD have his own show!

Justin Timberlake beatboxes with Brother Ali

Brother Ali reported via Twitter today that none other than Justin Timberlake crashed the rapper's set last night in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Apparently, Ali didn't recognize JT, and he took the microphone from Timberlake.

After finishing his song, Ali's DJ, BK-One, told him, "that was Justin Timberlake" (he tweeted again).

Ali says he brought JT back on stage, where the two freestyled and beatboxed for 15 minutes. In Ali's tweeted words: "sorry JT. Thanks for rockin with us."

Late Sunday night Brother Ali announced on Twitter that he's flying out to NYC for a TV appearance on a hot, new late night TV show:
Well, he might just be the greatest of them all! In addition to the big announcement, Ali also shared his favorite artists list with us in another tweet that said: "Top 3 Rap groups of all time in chronological order. RUN-DMC, Public Enemy, The Roots."
