Calling all wingnuts!

A hilarious new local Twitter account emerged yesterday that made us very, very curious. It's called @wingnutmn and all we know is what's in the official bio: "Each week, The Wingnut Award is given to a local Tweeter who demonstrates the finest in crazy."

OK, who is this person trying to compete with LOL/OMG in continuous search for city's craziest, most interesting tweets? And what is the The Wingnut Award? Candy? 6 pack of Miller lite? Street cred? Xanax?

Anybody? We need to know these things...and we also sort of want to win!

Let's go crazy

@buttonelf was not too excited about Sarah Palin fans invading the Mall of America today for Palin's much talked/laughed-about book signing. The Twitterverse was buzzing with updates from the MOA front all day, with comical, and somewhat disturbing results.

As expected, local Tweeps had their opinions about the entire ordeal:

@rexeisen: "Couple seen at MOA for the Palin book signing... discuss http://twitpic.com/sjsp5

@migganimon:
"What is more horrifying? Palin/Bachman or Palin/Beck. The thought of either make me want to relocate to a lunar colony."

@rexeisen : "Palin/Beck is horrifying as in "I fear for my government", Palin/Bachman is horrifying as in "What the hell is America thinking"

@stephenhero, eventually gave up waiting in line, but had a number of choice tweets/pics circulating including:

@stephenhero: "PALIN MAN. http://yfrog.com/3lxh3pj
"

and @stephenhero: "I just asked CJ for her take on all this Palin hysteria: 'It's a country that loves blacks and Jews.' Always love that one."

The event took a bizzare turn when @ButtonElf posted another update saying that "Kenny G just got a book signed by Palin." We don't even want to know what that was all about.

And just when you thought it could not get any weirder, we get this update from @citypages: Sarah Palin almost signs City Pages "Going Crazy" parody issue (PICS) - http://bit.ly/8esr7w
.

In a matter of minutes Twitter was abuzz, especially after @villagevoice re-posted this tweet. Really, you can't complain about getting national attention. There is, however, one thing nobody mentioned today and I would really love to get the scoop on that: Did Palin's do some shopping while in town? (Wink, wink)
