Diablo Cody rewriting "The Evil Dead" remake

Uh oh. News is circulating via a press release that went out today announcing that one-time Minnesota resident Diablo Cody is set to rewrite The Evil Dead remake that's being directed by Federico "Fede" Alvarez. A writer from SlashFilm.com wrote today: "Yesterday when I wrote about the fact that Federico ‘Fede’ Alvarez is directing the remake of The Evil Dead, our tweet of the article was quickly retweeted by Diablo Cody, with a little note: “Go Fede!” I thought that was slightly unusual..."

Diablo Cody to Fox

Diablo Cody is in the news, and she has a lot of it. First, on July 27 she welcomed a new baby boy, Marcello Daniel Maurio! Yesterday, IndieWire reported that Diablo's new traveling talk-show Red Band Trailer, recorded in her Airstream, is playing on YouTube, and that in a Juno reteaming with director Jason Reitman, it's also been reported that he may direct her latest Charlize Theron-starring flick, Young Adult.


And perhaps the biggest news came today: It's been reported that Fox has bought a pilot of her new comedy, The Breadwinner. Looks like we'll be hearing a lot more from the former Minneapolitan for a while to come.

Diablo Cody preggo, local rocker Jon Hunt NOT the baby daddy

Diablo Cody, an Oscar-winning screenwriter and a former Minneapolite, dropped the Twitter bomb yesterday announcing to the world that she is not only married, but pregnant too!


And in case you were wondering, her husband and impregnator is NOT local musician Jon Hunt (of Blue Sky Blackout), as some news outlets are reporting. Hunt and Cody have been divorced for years but remain friends. According to Hunt, he can't "sperminate people long-distance" and he congratulated Cody through Twitter yesterday and responded to rumors this morning:


And the funniest tweet on the sitch comes from Jon's current wife, Trixie, also a friend of Cody, who jokes via twitter:


As for Cody's real husband, Dan Maurio, all we know is that he works for Chelsey Lately and that he has a Funny or Die account.

Diablo Cody-created show wins Golden Globe but she wasn't invited to the party?

Former Twin Citian and City Pages blogger turned Oscar-winning Hollywood screenwriter, Diablo Cody, celebrated a Golden Globe win Sunday night for the Showtime series she created, The United States of Tara! (note: the win was for Toni Collete's performance on the show) However, according to a tweet exchange between Cody and her ex-husband, local musician Jon Hunt, she wasn't invited to the event!

When the Blue Sky Blackout rocker sent a congratulatory tweet to Cody, she replied "Thank you! Maybe next year they will invite me."

We're not sure if she was kidding or not, but either way, Congratulations on your show's win, D.C.!

Update: Cody later tweeted "BTW, I'm at home watching. No tickets for writers/exec producers unless the whole show is nommed. Fine by me."
