Project Runway's Christopher Straub & Mondo Guerra hang out in Mpls

Two of Project Runway's fan favorites have hitting the town in Minneapolis together this weekend. Hometown boy Christopher Straub of season six and season nine finalist Mondo Mondo served as judges for last night's IIDA Fusion+Fashion show at the Depot, and have made their way to the Saloon, the Walker Art Center and the Mall of America. UPDATE: here's a pic of the two:

Project Runway's Seth Aaron to headline Minneapolis eco-fashion show

In addition to the news that locally connected Project Runway alums Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman and Christopher Straub will be featured in the upcoming Sol Inspirations eco-fashion show, it was announced today that Season 7 winner Seth Aaron Henderson will join the lineup as well. Henderson will be rolling out his collection of "high-fashion solar power-inspired couture for Fuller." (we can't wait to see how this collection looks) and will also be sitting the judging panel to select a $5,000 winner from six finalists.

The show takes place on Saturday, April 23 at The Depot (the venue, not the bar) in downtown Minneapolis, with proceeds going to the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society and Haiti rebuilding efforts.

Tickets and other information available here.

Random trivia: Christopher Straub designed the Caterpillar Lounge logo

Today on Facebook, local fashion designer and one-time Project Runway contestant Christopher Straub let slip that he was behind Azia's Caterpillar Lounge logo. The logo will find a new home at the newly-reopened Caterpillar Lounge at Thom Pham's Wondrous Azian Kitchen downtown.

He says, "Random fact of the day...I designed the logo when it opened, like, 10 years ago."

New York Fashion Week Twitterings

Minneapolis peeps have been taking New York Fashion Week by storm! Here's a smattering of Tweets from locals on the haps on Day 1 of #nyfw.

Eyewear designin' twins Coco & Breezy prep for their Fashion Week show with Honey Magazine.

Aveda lead hair stylist/rock star Pearson Knight has already worked on shows for Christian Siriano and John Patrick Organic. But this run-in is potentially cooler...

We can only wonder who Star Tribune's Sara Glassman was interviewing. Lady Gaga/Alexander McQueen fave Philip Treacy, we hope!

Project Runway alum Christopher Straub hits the town! Word is that he went to the Nicolas Putvinski presentation, a Project Runway viewing party with a bunch of past designers at Laura Bennett's place yesterday. (Tom & Lorenzo also attended!) Then today he went to the taping of the finale for season 8 of Project Runway. Then on Friday he goes to L.A. for the VMAs. (For Brittani Senser photo ops, of course!)

Pop singer wears Christopher Straub to Teen Choice Awards

Fledgling pop singer Brittani Senser wore a Christopher Straub F/W 2010 dress to the 2010 Teen Choice Awards last night (airing tonight on Fox). She also brought Bristol Palin baby daddy Levi Johnston as her date. Apparently, the Minnesota-born singer (and daughter of former Vikings player Joe Senser) wanted to show her support to her hometown by wearing a Twin Cities designer.

Here's the dress on the runway at the Saint Paul Hotel during MNfashion Week in April:

Next up, she'll be shooting her new music video "After Love" with Johnston. Perhaps this means we'll be seeing more Straub soon! Congrats, Christopher!

UPDATE: Tom & Lorenzo of Project Runway also spotlight Christopher's designs on their Teen Choice Awards post: "He is such a greasy little sleazebag. She looks cute. We have no idea who she is but she's wearing a Christopher Straub dress. Congrats, Chinstrap!"

UPDATE: Based on a facebook conversation between Senser's stylist and local designer Vivian Aronson (of YQY by Vivian), it sounds like a dress from Aronson's line will be featured in Senser's upcoming music video, purportedly with Johnston!

Janice Dickinson to attend Christopher Straub's MNFashion Week event?

Yes it's true. Straub announced via Facebook that famously bitchy O.G. super model Janice Dickinson will be in attendance at his MNFashion Week show at the Saint Paul Hotel on April 25th. Bonus points if you can get her to slap ya! Totally awesome.

Project Runway video game hits shelves

In case you haven't heard, Project Runway has been turned into a Wii game! The game officially hits shelves today and features the Twin Cities own Christopher Straub and ex-Minneapolitan Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman, who facebooked about the release today and also noted that Season 6 is now available on DVD.

Created by Atari, the game invites you to "Join Heidi, Tim, Nina, and Michael as you face the fiercest challenges of your burgeoning fashion career. Project Runway lets you play through a whole season of wild and wonderful fashion challenges."

We can't believe our local pals are immortalized on the Wii! So cool. Buy it in stores everywhere or on Amazon here.
