Minneapolis Folks hit NYFW

Fashion lovers, New York Fashion Week has officially begun and as always, we have locals on the ground. Mary O'Regan, Metro Magazine's fashion editor and Stephanie Davila, Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine staffer and freelancer extraordinaire will be broadcasting their NYFW adventures via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Stephanie stopped by the Missoni for Target event last night, with a former Minneapolite, Hillary Davis. Today's agenda included a meeting with editors at People Magazine and an impromptu lunch with a former InStyle co-worker. Follow Stephanie's antics via her blog and her Twitter account.

As for Mary, she's on her way to NYC right now so make sure to check her Twitter account for updates.

Another local tidbit includes former Fox9 news anchor turned jewelry maven, Robyne Robinson, who will be showing her wares alongside former Minneapolitan Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman at NY Fashion week! Congrats to them both.

Project Runway's Seth Aaron to headline Minneapolis eco-fashion show

In addition to the news that locally connected Project Runway alums Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman and Christopher Straub will be featured in the upcoming Sol Inspirations eco-fashion show, it was announced today that Season 7 winner Seth Aaron Henderson will join the lineup as well. Henderson will be rolling out his collection of "high-fashion solar power-inspired couture for Fuller." (we can't wait to see how this collection looks) and will also be sitting the judging panel to select a $5,000 winner from six finalists.


The show takes place on Saturday, April 23 at The Depot (the venue, not the bar) in downtown Minneapolis, with proceeds going to the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society and Haiti rebuilding efforts.

Lauren Conrad's new clothing line has local connection

The lookbook for Lauren Conrad's Spring collection for Kohl's has been released and is making the rounds on the fashion blogs. We have to say, the clothes look pretty cute, however, we tend to credit a lot of the good design aesthetic to former Minneapolitan and past Project Runway contestant, Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman, who collaborated on the line with LC (silently of course). We can totes detect Ra'mon's signature style in many of the pieces! As uber-blogger Perez Hilton said "The clothes don't even look half as cheap as we thought they would." (thanks to Ra'mon!)

Update: l'etoile fashion editor and LOL/OMG contributor, Jahna Peloquin, has posted a blog entry detailing some of the comparisons. Jahna broke this news months ago in an interview with Ra'mon on our sister site, l'etoile magazine.

Project Runway video game hits shelves

In case you haven't heard, Project Runway has been turned into a Wii game! The game officially hits shelves today and features the Twin Cities own Christopher Straub and ex-Minneapolitan Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman, who facebooked about the release today and also noted that Season 6 is now available on DVD.

Created by Atari, the game invites you to "Join Heidi, Tim, Nina, and Michael as you face the fiercest challenges of your burgeoning fashion career. Project Runway lets you play through a whole season of wild and wonderful fashion challenges."

We can't believe our local pals are immortalized on the Wii! So cool. Buy it in stores everywhere or on Amazon here.

Ra'mon-Lawrence to design a limited edition l'étoile shirt?

Our sister site, l'étoile magazine, an award-winning online art/fashion/event hub, has long been an instigator and hands-on supporter of the local fashion scene. When former Twin Cities designer and Project Runway alum, Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman, moved from Chicago to Minneapolis many years ago, l'étoile immediately took an interest in his amazing talents, and they even helped him make his last minute Project Runway audition video and then threw a big party when he got on the show!

Well, Ra'mon, being the sweetheart that he is, didn't forget us once his career took off! A cute Facebook exchange Monday night indicated a possible "j'adore l'étoile" limited edition t-shirt in the works by the rising star designer, who will be collaborating with one of our favorite local graphic artists, Mike Cina, in 2010. We die!!!

Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman dishes to l'etoile

And in local fashion gossip...former Minneapolitan and Project Runway fashion designer, Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman gave some serious scoop to l'etoile fashion editor, Jahna Peloquin.

As you may have heard, Coleman and fellow PR alum, Christopher Straub, will be special guests at International Market Square's annual Crystal Ball New Year's Eve bash. Coleman tips Peloquin off that both he and Straub will be debuting holiday capsule collections at the event, including a jacket by Coleman that " looks like something Lady Gaga would wear."

He also dishes some juicy tidbits including...

"I will be on television again next year. It has nothing to do with Project Runway. I’ll be involved with two other reality-based programs, one of which is of The Real Housewives franchise."

"Ultimately in 2010, you’ll see ra’mon-lawrence as a label carried by a major U.S. retailer, which I cannot name at the moment. It’s a pretty, pretty major opportunity. I’m really excited about it."

"I'm set to do a graphic t-shirt collaboration with (local graphic designer and co-founder of YouWorkForThem) Mike Cina."

Celeb Alert! Project Runway's Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman returns to MPLS...for the weekend

Since appearing on hit reality show Project Runway, former Twin Cities designer Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman has been "jetsetting" all over the country for various appearances and fashion shows, and living in Milwaukee designing for Kohl's for the past year (where he worked on a line of clothing for Lauren Conrad of The Hills fame). This weekend Coleman returns home for a visit and will party the night away at Jetset's "Hot Holiday Party."

We'll totally be there, so come give us something to gossip about! For more info on the Hot Holiday party, as well as a slew more cool things to do this weekend, check out l'etoile's Weekend What's What!
