Minneapolis Folks hit NYFW

Fashion lovers, New York Fashion Week has officially begun and as always, we have locals on the ground. Mary O'Regan, Metro Magazine's fashion editor and Stephanie Davila, Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine staffer and freelancer extraordinaire will be broadcasting their NYFW adventures via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Stephanie stopped by the Missoni for Target event last night, with a former Minneapolite, Hillary Davis. Today's agenda included a meeting with editors at People Magazine and an impromptu lunch with a former InStyle co-worker. Follow Stephanie's antics via her blog and her Twitter account.

As for Mary, she's on her way to NYC right now so make sure to check her Twitter account for updates.

Another local tidbit includes former Fox9 news anchor turned jewelry maven, Robyne Robinson, who will be showing her wares alongside former Minneapolitan Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman at NY Fashion week! Congrats to them both.

New York Fashion Week runs through Sept. 15.

Glamour shoots Minneapolis street style

Sometime early December last year, a crew from Glamour Magazine came to town to shoot some of the Twin Cities' most stylish for a Minneapolis street style feature. We knew that several gals were in the running, and now we know who they are! "Minneapolis Street Style: 5 Cute Outfit Ideas to Try" feature was posted to Glamour.com today and we were thrilled to see some familiar faces: Mary O’Regan of Metro Magazine, NELLE handbags designer Laura Nelli and Casey Carlson of The CW Twin Cities (and former American Idol contestant). And the skirt worn by the pretty lady below is by local designer Anne M. Cramer.

Pretty! Congrats ladies!

Locals to appear in Glamour mag street style spread

A few weeks ago before the snow covered the Minneapolis streets, a crew from Glamour Magazine came to town to shoot some of the Twin Cities' most stylish for a Minneapolis street style spread in its March 2011 issue. With French Meadow Bakery in Uptown Minneapolis serving as home base, we spotted everyone from Geisha Pearl Vintage owner Kitty Cotten and Dirty Hair Halo blogger Shannon Licari, to fashion designer/arts curator/mplsart.com director Emma Berg.

Apparently, the staff at Glamour emailed those who were selected for the final spread, and so far it includes METRO Magazine fashion editor Mary O'Regan. Mary posted a preview of the image they're using (and unfortunately it's very tiny):

Mary O'Regan checks in from NY Fashion Week

Although the impending MN Fashion Week is our No. 1 topic of interest this week, we certainly made time to check in on the local Tweeps attending the New York Fashion Week. Metro Magazine's Mary O'Regan has been tweeting diligently, as well as blogging and posting photos from the runway and beyond. On her newish blog, Art of Wore (love the name, btw!), Mary not only offers her thoughts on the fashions, but also general observations on other attendees, models, the infamous gift bags and of course, how difficult it is to walk in heels!

- I haven't seen any freakishly skinny models yet. I mean, they're all underweight like models are, but so far no on-her-deathbed physiques.

-The street fashion photographers are out in full force. I've been here 24 hours and have already been photographed four or five times. And I'm not wearing anything crazy!

- I ran into a fashion journalist I knew and she totally snubbed me! I asked her how she was doing and she just looked at me and turned away. Something about Fashion Week turns people bitchy.

- The five-inch heels I brought along aren't going to see the light of day. I've already almost snapped an ankle in some three-inchers. Not worth it.

- Not all gift bags are created equal.

Local fashion gets Twitterized

Ah, we love technology. Last night we were so busy with various deadlines that we had to give away our ticket to Cliche Boutique's annual "Avoid the Grey" fashion show. Lucky for us, METRO Magazine's fashion editor and gal about town, Mary O'Regan, was on the scene tweeting pics, almost 20 of them in fact. We (almost) feel like we were there! It looks like the presentation of the show was quite original and interesting, with models on individual platforms instead of a traditional runway. Some theatrical elements even came into play when the models swung axes! (Could this be in reference to a photo shoot l'etoile agency did for Cliche a few months back?)

The show featured 16 talented local designers that sell their work at the hip Uptown shop. Here are just a few of the pics, check Mary's Twitter account to find almost 20 twitpics from the event.
