Ellen Dahl Lawson Gets Interviewed By CNN

Ellen Dahl Lawson, girl about town, local fashion blogger/photographer and the brain behind the Minneapoline, has done it again. Her work has already appeared in pages of Vita.mn, Lucky Magazine, various national fashion blogs and now CNN.

Ellen posted a link this morning on her Facebook page to a CNN interview that focuses on Twin Cities fashion and her own street style blog, the Minneapoline. Ellen also talks about vintage fashion, name drops Voltage as well as several local designers. That's our girl!

Mary O'Regan checks in from NY Fashion Week

Although the impending MN Fashion Week is our No. 1 topic of interest this week, we certainly made time to check in on the local Tweeps attending the New York Fashion Week. Metro Magazine's Mary O'Regan has been tweeting diligently, as well as blogging and posting photos from the runway and beyond. On her newish blog, Art of Wore (love the name, btw!), Mary not only offers her thoughts on the fashions, but also general observations on other attendees, models, the infamous gift bags and of course, how difficult it is to walk in heels!

- I haven't seen any freakishly skinny models yet. I mean, they're all underweight like models are, but so far no on-her-deathbed physiques.

-The street fashion photographers are out in full force. I've been here 24 hours and have already been photographed four or five times. And I'm not wearing anything crazy!

- I ran into a fashion journalist I knew and she totally snubbed me! I asked her how she was doing and she just looked at me and turned away. Something about Fashion Week turns people bitchy.

- The five-inch heels I brought along aren't going to see the light of day. I've already almost snapped an ankle in some three-inchers. Not worth it.

- Not all gift bags are created equal.

Who's the 'Real Man' now?

We were tipped off by one of our loyal readers, Kris Huson today that local dude Kurt Schmidt, aka @KRTS, is one of the 25 semi finalists in Esquire's Best Dressed Real Man contest. Exciting! Kurt is a development manager for Sierra Bravo, former pro BMX'er, St. Paulite and father of two. He also has a great sense of personal style and makes his own bow ties! Coco & Breezy vs. Danielle & Chantelle?

Ooooh snap! Locally bred models/designers Coco & Breezy moved to NYC just last year, and it seems like they may already have some seriously stylish twinsy competition in Danielle and Chantelle Piper!

We got an e-mail from NYC-based twin fashion mavens and models Danielle and Chantelle telling us about their line, Kastle Designs, and drawing our attention to a post on cool fashion blog, the Nine Forty Nine in which they talk about their work. Both sets of twins were featured on The Nine Forty Nine here and here. Could D&C have been lead to our lil' ol' LOL/OMG blog through researching internet stalking their cute counterparts? Obvious similarities between the twins are a bit uncanny: both are fashion models and designers (D&C do clothing, C&B do eyewear but have dabbled in apparel), and both are, well, for a lack of a better term, HOT.

Are you team Coco & Breezy or team Danielle & Chantelle? Personally, we think they should team up. After all, four pretty heads are better than two! However, if they were ever to brawl, our money would be on the badass Coco & Breezy -- Danielle and Chantelle just look so sweet and innocent!

l'étoile posts a new photo shoot

Our blood bros over at l'étoile are back with more stylish hijinx! Today they released a new fashion photo shoot over various social media networks using Issuu as their presentation format. We're totally clicking the 'like' button!

For the shoot, the l'étoile team travel to Crosby Park in St. Paul to bid adieu to Winter with a lovely model who we expect was very, very cold. The intro to the editorial goes something like this:

As March advances, the Snow Queen's icy grip lessens and our longest season fades into the past. Though we rejoice for the sun and spring, it is impossible not to mourn the loss of the winter's royal majesty. Master storyteller Rob Callahan weaves a fantastical tale following the Snow Queen's ascendance and fated waning as she melts away.

Belfry on NYT Style Mag

We said it before, but we are officially jealous of Jane Belfry who was recently reporting on Twitter about her trip to Paris Fashion Week (which was only one of many she took this year!). In one of her tweets she mentioned she went to a super fun party where she danced the night away with some famous fashionistas: Alexander Wang, Matthew Williamson, Erin Wasson, etc, etc. We were dying to see some photos and Jane, as gracious as she is, did not share any pics that we're sure she's sheltering on her phone. Luckily, she didn't need to! The New York Times Style Magazine photographer Kevin Tachman was at the party too and he snapped a bunch of photos including one of Jane, local photog Jennifer Cress and a friend!


Jane revealed on her Facebook page that the photo was snapped right after Lindsay Lohan did some table dancing. See the full gallery here.
