l'étoile posts a new photo shoot

Our blood bros over at l'étoile are back with more stylish hijinx! Today they released a new fashion photo shoot over various social media networks using Issuu as their presentation format. We're totally clicking the 'like' button!

For the shoot, the l'étoile team travel to Crosby Park in St. Paul to bid adieu to Winter with a lovely model who we expect was very, very cold. The intro to the editorial goes something like this:

As March advances, the Snow Queen's icy grip lessens and our longest season fades into the past. Though we rejoice for the sun and spring, it is impossible not to mourn the loss of the winter's royal majesty. Master storyteller Rob Callahan weaves a fantastical tale following the Snow Queen's ascendance and fated waning as she melts away.

Ra'mon-Lawrence to design a limited edition l'étoile shirt?

Our sister site, l'étoile magazine, an award-winning online art/fashion/event hub, has long been an instigator and hands-on supporter of the local fashion scene. When former Twin Cities designer and Project Runway alum, Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman, moved from Chicago to Minneapolis many years ago, l'étoile immediately took an interest in his amazing talents, and they even helped him make his last minute Project Runway audition video and then threw a big party when he got on the show!

Well, Ra'mon, being the sweetheart that he is, didn't forget us once his career took off! A cute Facebook exchange Monday night indicated a possible "j'adore l'étoile" limited edition t-shirt in the works by the rising star designer, who will be collaborating with one of our favorite local graphic artists, Mike Cina, in 2010. We die!!!

Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman dishes to l'etoile

And in local fashion gossip...former Minneapolitan and Project Runway fashion designer, Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman gave some serious scoop to l'etoile fashion editor, Jahna Peloquin.

As you may have heard, Coleman and fellow PR alum, Christopher Straub, will be special guests at International Market Square's annual Crystal Ball New Year's Eve bash. Coleman tips Peloquin off that both he and Straub will be debuting holiday capsule collections at the event, including a jacket by Coleman that " looks like something Lady Gaga would wear."

He also dishes some juicy tidbits including...

"I will be on television again next year. It has nothing to do with Project Runway. I’ll be involved with two other reality-based programs, one of which is of The Real Housewives franchise."

"Ultimately in 2010, you’ll see ra’mon-lawrence as a label carried by a major U.S. retailer, which I cannot name at the moment. It’s a pretty, pretty major opportunity. I’m really excited about it."

"I'm set to do a graphic t-shirt collaboration with (local graphic designer and co-founder of YouWorkForThem) Mike Cina."

l'etoile munitions dump blog?

We got a very entertaining Google alert for l'etoile today that sparked a funny convo on Facebook (see image below). l'etoile editor Kate Iverson posts: "Just got a google alert for l'etoile that linked to a really weird remix of last week's edition that has a bunch of words replaced in a really nonsensical fashion. It's titled "l'etoile munitions dump blog." It looks like it was translated into Chinese, then back into English, Ikea instruction manual-style. LOL. Oh, internetz."

TC Daily Planet arts editor, Jay Gabler chimes in with an awesome story about submitting an AIM conversation that had been translated multiple times to his grad school's literary journal as a poem. He went to Harvard, which makes the story even better.

The best part? In regards to LOL/OMG, the re-post translates "daily gossip" to "unimaginative clishmaclaver."

Who's that girl?

Lookie, lookie! Our own Kate Iverson made it to the list of Twin Cities Top Ten Titans in Social Media compiled by Judy Grundstrom of JustJudyJudyJudy blog.

Kate was nominated for her work with l’etoile magazine, Secrets Of The City, the651.com and several awards she got this year for being totally kick-ass. Some pretty clever peeps made it to the list which makes this recognition even more relevant.

But you know what the best thing about it is? This sketch:
How cute is that?? Congratulations Kate!
