Minneapolis Folks hit NYFW

Fashion lovers, New York Fashion Week has officially begun and as always, we have locals on the ground. Mary O'Regan, Metro Magazine's fashion editor and Stephanie Davila, Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine staffer and freelancer extraordinaire will be broadcasting their NYFW adventures via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Stephanie stopped by the Missoni for Target event last night, with a former Minneapolite, Hillary Davis. Today's agenda included a meeting with editors at People Magazine and an impromptu lunch with a former InStyle co-worker. Follow Stephanie's antics via her blog and her Twitter account.

As for Mary, she's on her way to NYC right now so make sure to check her Twitter account for updates.

Another local tidbit includes former Fox9 news anchor turned jewelry maven, Robyne Robinson, who will be showing her wares alongside former Minneapolitan Ra'mon Lawrence Coleman at NY Fashion week! Congrats to them both.

You know who had a crazy week? Robyne Robinson. The former Fox 9 news anchor of 20 years officially signed off the air last night only to announce (about 12 hours later) that she will be Matt Entenza's running mate in the Minnesota governor's race. Surprising? Not really; the rumors of Robyne's next endeavor have been circulating the local internetz for several days now.

The news of her departure from Fox was met with with a wave of disappointment from local fans, who didn't want to see their favorite anchor leave just yet. The news of her nomination, however, was met with a healthy dose of skepticism. Here's just a taste of Twitter rundown:

Robyne Goes Political?

Robyne Robinson's sudden departure from FOX 9 came as a surprise to everybody. Just a couple weeks later, an even bigger shocker comes from the beloved news anchor: according to various news sources, Robyn is considering being Democrat Matt Entenza's running mate in the race for governor in 2010.

After an unknown source leaked it to the Pioneer Press Monday morning, RR was quoted as saying "I think that there are certain times when you're called to public service and you have to weigh the offer with gravitas. So that's what I'm doing. I am weighing it incredibly heavily." City Pages Blotter also reports: Robyne's publicist Kate Iverson, confirms that Entenza has extended the offer to Robinson and that she is considering it. Fox 9 confirmed it tonight as well.

Robyne Robinson leaving Fox 9 after 20 year career

LOL/OMG's fave news anchor, Robyne Robinson, has decided to make her departure from Fox 9 News as of May 26. RR is making the big announcement on-air Tuesday night but the news broke via Fox 9's website first!

Robyne will be leaving Fox, her employer of 20 years, to focus on her career as a jewelry designer and will split time between her properties in Minneapolis and Santa Fe. While Robyne hasn't completely disregarded the idea of returning to broadcast news in the future, she plans to focus on creative endeavors for the time being -- and we think that's amazing!! We will, however, miss her pretty face on the nightly news!

Congrats Robyne on taking the creative plunge! We're excited to see what you do next!

Robyne Robinson to design jewelry for Beyonce

We had the inside scoop from the local jewelry designer and newscaster herself a few weeks back, but now it's official: Robyne Robinson will be designing custom jewelry for none other than Beyonce! (She made the big announcement today via her facebook account.)

Her line ROX has long had esteem locally for its mix of semi-precious stones and metals in configurations both bold and feminine. Most recently, Robyne was enlisted by l'etoile to create jewelry for Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman's Spring 2010 line during New York Fashion Week last fall, and this spring she is creating a line for Emma Berg's spring line at Voltage 2010.

Prince writes Vikings fight song...for real!

We got tipped off by Robyne Robinson that she's got a Prince exclusive tonight on the 9pm news on Fox 9! Apparently, after much Twitter banter on the subject over the weekend (Prince was spotted in a skybox at the Metrodome during last Sunday's game), the Purple One has actually done the deed and whipped up a ditty dedicated to the Vikes.

Robyne, a good friend of Prince, has the exclusive and you can only find out more and hear the song by tuning in at 9pm to Fox 9 News!

Sorry ladies!

You all know Robyne Robinson. She is probably the most recognizable face on local TV, not to mention, an accomplished jewelry designer, patron of the arts and all around cool chick! According to Robinson's Facebook status today, Wikipedia has her listed under "LGBT Televsion Personalities," though RR is definitely down with the menz, despite rumors that have swirled in previous years.

Research uncovers that her personal Wikipedia page does not contain any LGBT related information, but Robyne is listed in the aforementioned "LGBT Television Personalities" category on the site. A good sport, of course, Robyne clears the air, saying "Wikipedia has me listed as one of America's LGBT broadcast personalities... Sorry, girls: I'm not!! But if you have a cute brother...."

Guess all those years emceeing the Pride Parade have paid off, eh?
