Musician Adam Levy discovered a pretty hilarious YouTube vid this afternoon that features none other than local DJ, Danny Sigelman participating on a Chinese television show called Lifetime Laboratory. Sigelman, who spent a good part of 2009 working as a radio DJ in China, is challenged to do a morning routine that includes brushing his teeth, making breakfast, putting on a suit, playing a drum and drawing a portrait...yeah, we don't get it either. The best part? Danny wears a 331 Club t-shirt the whole time!

The City of Minneapolis, according to City Pages, has surpassed its snow emergency budget by an estimated $3 million. May we remind you that today is officially the first day of winter. City Pages tweeted the news today and the reactions are priceless:

SPIN comes to town for Motion City Soundtrack's Popsickle Fest

SPIN Magazine was in the TC for Motion City Soundtrack's first annual Popsickle Fest last Saturday at First Avenue. The lineup also included Minus the Bear (which includes Minnesota native Erin Tate) and Foxy Shazam, as well as up-and-coming bands like Chicago's Gold Motel and Minneapolis acts like Take Cover, Party House, The Chord & The Fawn, Gospel Gossip, and Now, Now (formerly Now, Now Every Children), and Justin Pierre of MCS' side project Farewell Continental. They have a slideshow of images from the show and backstage.

GAYNGS' Ryan Olson + Justin Vernon share year-end lists with Pitchfork

Justin Vernon (Bon Iver, GAYNGS) and Ryan Olson (GAYNGS and Marijuana Deathsquads) were included in Pitchfork's massive year-end Guest List. Olson name drops some locals: Nick and Eddie Wednesday nights (where Marijuana Deathsquads had a regular residency for a good part of the year) and Albert Elmore, a local IDM artist/noise experimentalist, while Vernon lists GAYNGS cohorts and Eau Claire band Megafaun.

Solid Gold and Naughty by Nature: The collaboration

So we thought it was pretty hilar/awesome when we first caught wind of Solid Gold opening for Naughty by Nature at a Daytrotter benefit concert last weekend. But it's gotten better - while they were in town, Daytrotter recorded a collaboration between the two groups. Yes, our minds are blown, too.

Zeus Jones debuts Up & Down Lyndale project

Today, the amazing minds behind interactive marketing group Zeus Jones rolled out a new website, and we must say it's pretty darn sweet. Called Up & Down Lyndale, the site is pretty self-explanatory - it takes you on an interactive trek up and down Lyndale Avenue in Uptown Minneapolis, from Franklin Avenue to Lake Street. It's a great tool for the local and out-of-towner alike.


Zeus Jones say the site is purely a passion project, inspired by their new surroundings (the company recently relocated to Lyndale Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets). Check it out!
