Our SXSW correspondent Robyn Lewis sure is whooping it up in Austin! Night one sounded pretty insane, and we expect things will only get better. Follow Robyn's play-by-play tweets of all the live debauchery and amazing music on Twitter at @LOLOMGSXSW.
Day 1 Recap: 3:37am / March 16th
Day one of SXSW was a whirlwind. Despite being a Tuesday night, the streets of Austin looked like a god damned circus side show.
After a quiet Sushi dinner downtown with Erik Hess, Cyn Collins, Andrea Swensson and Ben Clark, we decided to head towards the masses to see what kind of trouble was brewing. Our first stop? Beauty Bar, where local faves Dearling Physique brought their theatrical electronica to the drunkards of Austin. We ran into Spyder & Muck and the Idle Hands, as well as expat Hilary Davis and l'etoile's Jahna Peloquin.
After Dom & Co's moving set at Beauty Bar, we made our way down to Bat Bar where Michael Cera's band Mister Heavenly was opening for none other than Duluth's own Trampled By Turtles! It was an all out mob to try and score a peep at Cera, and only badge holders were privy.
Instead of sticking around, we were wooed over to a warehouse space for the Pure Volume party, where we ran into most of Gayngs and half of Minneapolis in the VIP section, for a set by swedish rockers The Sounds. Much debauchery and drug-doing ensued there, which we are too drunk to get into it. you'd just have to be there.
