YouTube features Bon Iver videos made by locals on main page today

How cool is this?! YouTube has jumped on the Bon Iver bandwagon upon the release of his just-release suite of music videos that accompany each song on his self-titled release. We know by now that locals Dan Huiting, Isaac Gale, David Jensen, and JoLynn Garnes worked on those videos, but YouTube has taken it a step further and featured videos from the directors featured on that album. That means videos from the directors' archives including Doomtree, Lazerbeak, Astronautalis, GAYNGS, Heiruspecs, and MN Original, featured on YouTube's main page today. Head over there now to watch the videos.



And in other Bon Iver news, his video album has snagged some high-profile press on Time.com and the Fader. Minnesota boys, you done good.

MN Original Announces First Ever Art-A-Whirl Mashup Quiz

Happy 1st Birthday, MN Original! In honor of Art-A-Whirl and MN Original being on the air for a solid year, they've created a quiz that rewards both their viewers and fans of the whirl. It comes complete with prizes! A $25 gift card to the Black Dog Coffee and Wine bar to be exact.

• Visit www.mnoriginal.org Friday through Sunday at noon to get each day’s clues. A different set of clues about different artists will be posted each day.
• The deadline to email your answers is 10pm each day.
• There is only one winner per day. The first person to email the MOST correct answers wins.
• These artists have been featured on MN Original and are members of the Northeast Minneapolis Art Association.
• Send an email with your answers to MNOriginal@tpt.org. Please put “mashup quiz” in the subject line.
• If you are a winner, they’ll contact you for your full name and mailing address.

MN Identity & The Arts video recap

If you missed last night's stellar salon-style forum on arts and identity presented by the Minneapolis Arts Commission and Works Progress, no need to shed tears. The smarty pantses at MN Original stepped up to the plate and posted a video of the discussion, which features four awesome guest speakers including Wing Young Huie, Chuck Olsen, Ananya Chatterjea, and Adam Levy, followed by a q&a session.

This event was definitely the who's who of the local creative scene and included some great dialogue from and about MN artists! Definitely worth a watch.

MN Original to debut on tpt2 tonight

What's the Twitter chatter this morning, Minneapolites? Evidently, it's all about MN Original, a brand new half-hour TV program celebrating locally-grown artists. The show, which is "dedicated to showcasing the creative community of Minnesota" is set to premiere tonight on Twin Cities Public Television, at 7:30 p.m and will henceforth broadcast each Thursday evening:

"MN Original cameras have been capturing the creative process in arts studios for months, and will take viewers behind the scenes to meet the elders and the emerging talents in all of the arts disciplines – musicians, visual artists, poets, writers, dancers, filmmakers, architects and designers - all of whom make up the vast array of creative talent living and working in Minnesota."

We are already looking forward to seeing a bunch of familiar faces on the show, including photographer Alec Soth, metal sculptor Heather Doyle, Plein Air painter Joe Paquet and more who will be appearing in the show's debut episode. Chris Osgood and Hugo Klaers talk to MN Original

We pretty much CAN'T WAIT for the premiere of the new TPT arts show, MN Original, on April 22nd. The minds behind the cool new series are doing a great job teasing us with snippets from upcoming episodes.

Today they released a clip via their Facebook page that definitely brings the nostalgia. Chris Osgood (Suicide Commandos) and Hugo Klaers (The Suburbs) reminisce about the good ol' days when Treehouse Records was Oar Folkjokeopus.
