Steve Marsh pens interview with Joan Rivers for New York Magazine

We love it when local guys do good, especially when that guy is Steve Marsh. The local scribe just penned an interview with the legendary Joan Rivers for New York Magazine, and it's (of course) a riot.


Some choice interchanges:

So how do you make people laugh when nothing’s shocking? There’s always something shocking. Believe me. There’s always something that you want to talk about that’s just insane. Like this Casey Anthony case.

Why are people comparing it to OJ though? I’m shocked by that. Because it’s a total travesty of the judicial system. It just shows you yet again that it should be totally revamped — that it’s broken. Absolutely broken. She’s OJ with a uterus!

How long will you be able to do Casey Anthony jokes, though. What's the measure? It depends where it is in the psyche of your audience. OJ is in there forever. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s probably got two more weeks.

Kim Kardashian parties on Lake Minnetonka

In case you didn't hear, Kim Kardashian was in town this weekend, obstensibly to accompany her fiance, New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries, who was in town to host a party at Seven Skybar Saturday night. Today, Miss Kardashian partied on Lake Minnetonka, and even tweeted a pic of her with some gal pals:

James Blake Hangs Out At The Sound Gallery

James Blake, British singer/boy genius, stopped by the Sound Gallery after his sold out show at the Entry last night. Steve Marsh snapped this photo of Blake chatting it up with the locals:

Usually LOL/OMG-worthy news is about the subject rather than the writer, but in the case of Steve Marsh, we'll make an exception. The Mpls.St.Paul Magazine scribe just penned a feature on former Minnesota Twin and recent Hall of Fame inductee Bert Blyleven for GQ.

Mrs. MN Goes to a Twins Game

While waiting in the line for Murray's steak sandwich at Target Field tonight , Steve Marsh ran into 2009 Mrs. Minnesota Heather Hall. Steve snapped a photo of Hall posing with an adorable little girl and some dude who's face expression we absolutely love.

Marsh goes to Barcelona

So, what are you doing today? Working, blogging? What is Steve Marsh doing? Oh, you know, just interviewing the world's best football player (soccer player, if you wish). Steve's been Facebooking from Barcelona where he is due to interview Argentinian Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona for Delta Magazine. Cool, I know! But that's not all: He is also going to interview the young Ricky Rubio, who will (probably) be joining Minnesota Timberwolves in 2011. Rubio, Rubio!

To get a feel what it's like to be Steve Marsh right now, you can check out the view from his hotel room at the W and take a peek at Camp Nou, the largest stadium in Europe and the home to FC Barcelona. Steve reports from the stadium: "Inside the Camp Nou offices. I can hear children chanting "MESSI, MESSI" outside."




Steve also has some familiar company: he was recently joined by former Minneapolitan, Mikal Arnold of the band Revolver Modele who currently resides in Madrid: "Mikal Arnold is my photographer, translator and lawyer the rest of the way." Have fun, boys!

Marsh on Bachmann , part deux.

Remember when Steve Marsh did that interview with Michele Bachmann? You know, the one where she talked about AR-15's, John Wayne and Thoreau? Bachmann apparently loved it so much that she started repeatedly referring to Steve's opening sentence where he calls her a "political monster." In a recent FOX Business news bit, the "monster" was mentioned again, which led to MinnPost publishing the video on their website today, Marsh responded with his own take on the matter (see comments section in the MinnPost article). FYI, Nancy Pelosi didn't tell him to call her a monster, Slavoj Zizek did. For clarification, watch this brief video featuring the famous philosopher and culture theorist:

Has Bachmann seen this video or is she taking things completely out of context, which Marsh believes is the case? We don't know. But you know what would be great? If Zizek actually responded. Who can make that happen? Marsh?

Marsh on Bachmann

Local rockstar journo Steve Marsh is in D.C. to interview epic wingnut, Michele Bachmann. Based on Marsh's hilarious Facebook status updates and tweets this morning, we expect the article will be comedy gold.

Marsh status update: "I'm wearing my magenta AmAppy underwears to the Congresswoman's office just so I can keep it loose and feel sexy out there, Nuke LaLoosh-style."

Marsh via Twitter: "Just went through security with a murder of Mormons (they're all wearing black). Their leader: 'Be reverent once you get inside!'"

Michael Nicolas Delgado: Ask her if her tits are real.

Katy Morley: I'd like a detailed account of her childhood diet.

Ana Clara Voog: ask her how she killed her soul.

Judy Carter Grundstrom: I thought her husband was one of those people who tried to make gay people straight (which makes me think that she is probably married to a gay guy). Is this true?

Solid Gold makes a new, um, video?

@stephenhero just posted a Facebook status update that made us LOL:

Further research uncovered that it is unfortunately NOT a "porn video" but a new music video for hot Solid Gold track "Matter of Time." According to Solid Gold lighting guru Bryant Locher's blog Bluefuture Design, the band is headed to Madison today to start shooting the new video.

Says Locher, "The lighting for the new solid gold video is going to be done by me. This shit's going to be cool, I am having second thoughts about not getting a smoke machine, but that can make continuity and editing a real bitch. This is going to be really fun. It's for the song Matter of Time, the one that mountain dew helped put out. This past summer I drank a bunch of mountain dew, so by default that means I contributed to the budget."

Cool! We can't wait to see it!
