Blue Sky Blackout song featured on ABC Family show

LOL/OMG! faves Blue Sky Blackout, who kicked off our LOL/OMG! meetup series this summer in style, was on TV! Or at least their music was. The band's rockin' song "Somebody Said That You Loved Me" was featured on the most recent episode of ABC Family gymnastics-themed drama Make It Or Break It. The full episode can be viewed HERE (though the link appears to be down at the moment).

The guys say via their Facebook page, "When you think about girls' gymnastics, think about Blue Sky Blackout. As featured in S2 E10 of ABC Family's Make It Or Break It!"

The ABC Family website also is streaming the full song for your aural pleasure.

Blue Sky Blackout releases 3-Sided single just in time for Voltage

Our fave local band, Blue Sky Blackout, has just released their first "3-Side" What's a 3-side you ask? Well, it's basically just a digital download of three-song single. A free one at that! Oh internetz, you make everything so much easier!

The rockin' mini-release comes at an opportune time, as BSB is scheduled to rock the runway at Voltage: Fashion Amplified this Friday!

From the Susstones site: "Various combinations of us have played with each other before in bands like Astronaut Wife (Erickson and Ritter), Landing Gear (Hunt and Westbrooks), and Medication (Iwanin, Dalida and Hunt) and many of those bands were either released by Susstones or recorded at Flowers Studio. Despite the long history, this isn’t just a re-hash of what we’ve all done before. Jon’s flair for melodic Brit-pop influenced songs is still there, but with a heavier rock vibe thanks to a six-piece band that includes 3 guitars."

Blue Sky Blackout posts a new teaser

Local supergroup Blue Sky Blackout posted a rockin' teaser trailer via Facebook/Twitter today in promotion of their soon-to-be released digital 3-side (on Susstones). The 3-side will be available on April 13th as a free download. Having seen these guys play live, there's no doubt in our minds that they'll soon be topping bills and taking names all over the Twin Cities.

We think David De Young of HowWasTheShow.com put it best when he said: "If there’s such a thing as good cholesterol, perhaps there’s such a thing as good testosterone. Every time I see the six members of Blue Sky Blackout on stage, I can’t help but think: damn, that’s a lot of dudes. And cool, fashionable dudes at that, who know how to rock."

An official release party is planned for early May, but BSB will also be the first band to kick off the annual Voltage: Fashion Amplified show at First Avenue on Friday, April 16th. Way to usher yourselves in, guys!

Blue Sky Blackout releases an online teaser promo for upcoming 3-side

One of our favorite newish local bands, Blue Sky Blackout, releases a little teaser trailer in promotion of their soon-to-be-released 3-side. The super group is comprised of six veteran Twin Cities musicians. From Susstone's website: "Blue Sky Blackout is a brand new project from songwriter/guitarist Jon Hunt (formerly of Lunar 9/Medication/Shatterproof and more). Jon has assembled a virtual Susstones family supergroup to present his new tunes. Christian Erickson (Astronaut Wife) fronts the band as lead vocalist, with guitarists Brandon Dalida (Merc Rage, Medication) and Mykl Westbrooks (Landing Gear), drummer Marc Iwanin (Medication, the Meg, Basement Apartment), and bassist Tim Ritter (Astronaut Wife, Bella Koshka) bringing the beautiful noise."
