Ellen Dahl Lawson Gets Interviewed By CNN

Ellen Dahl Lawson, girl about town, local fashion blogger/photographer and the brain behind the Minneapoline, has done it again. Her work has already appeared in pages of Vita.mn, Lucky Magazine, various national fashion blogs and now CNN.

Ellen posted a link this morning on her Facebook page to a CNN interview that focuses on Twin Cities fashion and her own street style blog, the Minneapoline. Ellen also talks about vintage fashion, name drops Voltage as well as several local designers. That's our girl!

Thought Catalog partners with Minneapolis-based PhiLOLZophy

Thought Catalog, the popular NYC-based creative writing blog, has started republishing posts from the Minneapolis-based blog PhiLOLZophy, which is one of The Tangential's partner blogs. The first republished post is on "Judging Male Sexual Attractiveness Based on the Shoes They Wear" by Johanna DeSilentio, and it's hilarious. (Johanna DeSilentio is actually a feminized version of a pen name Kierkegaard used, added to the TC post at the suggestion of their editors. PhiLOLZophy posts are actually written jointly by Sarah Heuer [@heusar] and Chrissy Stockton [@xsssy]). Check it out.

The fun-lovin' nuts of Koo Koo Kanga Roo have released their new video for "Awesome Rainbows" in which primary colors and secondary colors battle it out through a number of challenges. We love these zany kids!

Hopefully no one will copy it this time!

Steve Marsh pens interview with Joan Rivers for New York Magazine

We love it when local guys do good, especially when that guy is Steve Marsh. The local scribe just penned an interview with the legendary Joan Rivers for New York Magazine, and it's (of course) a riot.


Some choice interchanges:

So how do you make people laugh when nothing’s shocking? There’s always something shocking. Believe me. There’s always something that you want to talk about that’s just insane. Like this Casey Anthony case.

Why are people comparing it to OJ though? I’m shocked by that. Because it’s a total travesty of the judicial system. It just shows you yet again that it should be totally revamped — that it’s broken. Absolutely broken. She’s OJ with a uterus!

How long will you be able to do Casey Anthony jokes, though. What's the measure? It depends where it is in the psyche of your audience. OJ is in there forever. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s probably got two more weeks.
