Ex-local stylist Ted Gibson behind Kate Gosselin's extensions

The Twin Cities' incredible amount of creative talent has long found success outside of the Midwest. One such success story is that of former Minneapolitan hair stylists Ted Gibson and Jason Backe, who've since gone on to form the Ted Gibson Salon together in New York City. Gibson lived in Minneapolis from 1991 to 1997 while working for Aveda, while Minnesota native Backe is currently Clairol's color director and master colorist at Gibson's salons. Gibson has since become one of the preeminent celebrity hair stylists in the country, with clients including Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Debra Messing, and his latest high-profile gig being hair stylist on TLC's What Not to Wear.

We just got word that the Gibson, Backe and crew are the ones behind reality TV celeb Kate Gosselin's much-gossiped-about hair extensions. Check out the video, and hear more from Gibson on the makeover here. Watch Gibson interviewed on CBS about the experience here.
